The Indian Space Research Organization (ISRO) on Friday shared a recent image of Phobos, the mysterious moon of Mars captured by the Mars Orbiter Mission, also known as Mangalyaan. The image was captured by the Mars Color Camera on 1 July.
Taking to Twitter, ISRO shared the image and wrote, “A recent image of Phobos, the mysterious moon of Mars, as captured by the Mars Orbiter Mission of India.”
“The Mars Orbiter Mission on Mars Color Camera (MCC) ship is imaged Phobos, the closest and largest moon to Mars, on July 1 when about 7,200 kilometers from Mother Mars and 4,200 kilometers from Phobos Was at a distance, ”ISRO said.
“Phobos is said to be largely composed of carbonaceous chondrites. The violent phase that Phobos has faced has been seen in a major confrontation, which ejected from the previous confrontation, (Stickney Crater) and the bouncing aga. Stobeni is the largest pit on Phobos. This image further states that other craters (Schlokowski, Roshe, and Grilldrug) are also in this image.
The mission was launched on November 5, 2013, by PSLV-C25, an expandable launch system, and entered Mars orbit on 24 September 2014 in its first attempt.
